Criminal Defense Attorney

Former Dawson County, Nebraska prosecutor. Thousands of cases on the state's side before building his defense practice. Bilingual: English, Spanish.

Carl N. Anderson leads the firm's criminal defense practice and brings a perspective most defense attorneys don't have: he used to be on the other side. Carl spent years as a prosecutor in Dawson County, Nebraska, handling thousands of cases for the state before building his own defense practice — and he reads a case file the way he once wrote one, spotting the weaknesses the prosecution will lean on.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, Carl is known for honest assessments and a steady hand in high-stakes cases.

What We Stand For

How we run this firm.

Six things that are non-negotiable around here — whether you hire us or not.

Plain English, every time

If we can't explain your case to you in words you'd use yourself, we're not doing our job. No Latin, no legalese, no “trust me on this.” You should leave every meeting knowing exactly what is happening next and why.

Every call, within 24 business hours

This isn't an aspiration — it's a rule. Melissa keeps the firm honest about it. If we can't fully answer the question yet, you'll at least hear back that we got it, and when we'll have more.

Three languages in the room

English, Spanish, Portuguese — from your first call through your court date. You shouldn't have to bring a friend to translate at a consultation about your own life.

Fair pricing, real payment options

$100 consultations credited to your retainer if we take your case. Payment plans on most matters. Affirm financing where it makes sense. Money shouldn't be the reason you face this alone.

Honest about your case

If we can't help you, we'll tell you in the consultation. If your facts don't fit the law, we'll say so. You don't pay us for hope — you pay us for a clear-eyed read on what's actually possible.

Family-run, family-minded

Two generations of Richardses, all Ogden-raised. The way we treat our clients is the way we want our own family treated when they're sitting across from a lawyer they've never met.
